CHIP is the latest device we have seen so far in the single board computer space following the Arduino and RaspBerry Pi but what sets it apart from its competitors is the price point starting at only $9! The board is amazingly powerful sporting a whopping 1Ghz processor, 512MB Ram, 4GB build-in storage, composite video/audio out and the absolute best part has built-in WiFi 802.11 B/G/N AND Bluetooth 4.0
CHIP is modular so just like the Arduino and Pi you can purchase hardware add-on’s which connect through its GPIO pins situated on either side of the board, these include a VGA and HDMI display output boards. The best add-on has to be the POCKET CHIP which comes with a 4.3″ touchscreen, small QWERTY keyboard, 5-hour rechargeable LiPo battery and a case small enough to fit in your pocket.
Linux is the operating system of choice and comes pre-installed with a few applications, tools and games. For more information on this Kickstarter project set to start shipping later this year click here, or check out this really cool video.
