Say Hello to PLEN2

The world’s first 3D Printable Open-Sourced Humanoid Robot Kit is the brain child of Natsuo Akazawa, founder and CEO of PLEN Project Company, along with 3 others have started the PLEN2 project over at Kickstarter and have already met their $40,000 Goal with the help of 85 backers to date.

 

 

The PLEN2 kit consists of control boards, servomotors and accessories that you can put together yourself with just a simple screw driver. For those who have a 3D printer at home, the 3D data that make up the main parts will be made available for download so you can customize it any way you like. The kit also comes with an Arduino compatible control board and with a little programming you can add your own functions and make it truly unique.

 

ROS MiddleWare are also planned in future so this is definitely one project you want to keep an eye on. Some of the features include carrying small objects, playing football with fellow PLEN’s and even Dancing. There are various method’s of controlling your PLEN2 such as using a smart phone or PC and other input methods like sensor devices allowing you to use your body motions, facial expressions, myogenic signals, brain waves, etc.
